New movie happenings

Every other blog on the internet is probably posting this news so why not me? Up until a few weeks, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo had the biggest buzz in Hollywood. David Fincher (Zodiac, The Social Network) is directing the movie based on Stieg Larsson's best-selling trilogy. All the big names have been cast including Daniel Craig, Stellan Skarsgaard and Robin Wright. But the role of Lisbeth Salander was "the" role to get. Rooney Mara is the lucky recipient, she have a lot of pressure riding on her shoulders. The books are well-liked all over the globe and EVERYONE's got an opinion.

Here's a first look!

Which totally reminds me, I need to finish reading the books before the movie comes out.  The Swedish versions are already out and need reviewing too.  I have too many movies to catch up on.

We haven't heard from Ziyi Zhang since Memoirs of a Geisha which is a shame because she's good actress.  House of Flying Daggers is one of my all-time favorite Chinese movies.  Today, I happened to come across news that she might be starring in the live action version of Mulan.  Not the live action adaption of Disney's Mulan but of the story of the female warrior from a 6th century Chinese poem.  I am intrigued especially since Jan De Bont (Speed, Lara Croft) is possibly attached to direct.

News about Wicked: The Movie continues to filter in.  I'm way excited that the movie version is coming along but it won't be soon.  Not until 2012 or 2013.  No news yet about director though JJ Abrams, Ryan Murphy (Glee, Eat Pray Love) and Rob Marshall are all being considered to direct.  Once that's settled, the cast is going to be another issue.  I would think Lea Michele from Glee should be a shoo-in or will they keep Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel from the original cast.  Decisions, decisions.

  1. I think Rooney Mara is too cutesy to be Lisbeth.

  2. I hope they toughen her up with some piercings and tattoos (obviously!).
